Weldtool tool steel type H-12 is a hot working tool steel alloy featuring excellent hot hardness, wear resistance, and reasonable impact resistance. The as-welded hardness is typically 50 – 55 HRC. It is an excellent choice for press forging dies where high heat and abrasion are encountered. Recommended for repairing or building hot and cold trim dies, shearing dies, punches, and extrusion dies. Ideal for high-volume forgings like connecting rods, pipe wrenches, and crankshafts.
